DESCRIPTION
Shaped like a prism with an irregular surface area of 3,500 m² and a depth of 28m, it serves two purposes: the LINE 2 station and a car park.
PROGRESSION OF THE WORK
Work on this station began in May 2008. Between May and August, services were restored and the Parcent car park, located below Plaza Juan de Vilarrasa, was remodelled. Entry and exit ramps were built to allow it to function independently in the area under Plaza Ciudad de Brujas. During this period, archaeological excavations were also being carried out in the areas affected by the work and the areas outside of the Parcent car park.
In August 2008, the car park was demolished and a micro-pile perimetral screen was built to improve ground support. Affected services are still being restored and archaeological excavations are still underway. Plaza Ciudad de Brujas had to be closed off from traffic as a result of work being carried out.
In December 2008, and subsequent to the finalization of the works described above, work was begun on the screens that delimit the station area and on the pillars. This second phase was terminated in August 2009. Subsequently, the ground has been reinforced using the jet-grouting technique, which consists of creating a floor using cement injected at high pressure.
In July 2010, the jet grouting was terminated and the construction of the roof slab was begun. Thus, the coming months will see the extension of zones open to traffic in Plaza Ciudad de Brujas. These zones will coexist with the areas necessary for the excavation work to be undertaken in the interior of the station and the construction of the intermediate and base slabs.
An alternative traffic route has been indicated (See Plan). The 27, 28 and 81 EMT bus routes are affected (EMT Web)
